FEDERAL MINISTRY OF FINANCE
The Federal Ministry of Finance is the government body that manages the finances of the Federal Government of Nigeria, including managing, controlling, and monitoring federal revenues and expenditures.
OUR GOAL
The Ministry’s principal goals and operational targets are: A stable economy and a good standard of living; Long-term treasury equilibrium; An economical and efficient tax environment; Responsible and performance oriented management of state finances; Transparent government operations and an effective organizational structure; State employment of staff of the highest quality, who operate in a conducive work environment. The Ministry delivers reliable service through a culture of professional ethics.
LEADERSHIP
The Ministry is headed by the Honourable Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, who interfaces with members of the public, from within and outside Nigeria. The Minister is the Chief Executive Officer of the ministry and he relates with the bureaucracy through the Permanent Secretary who is the Chief Accounting Officer of the ministry. While the minister may designate tasks to any employee of the ministry directly, they cannot transmit any official document to him without passing through the Permanent Secretary, who validates the propriety and legitimacy of the document and action. The Permanent Secretary relates with the downstream workforce of the ministry through the directors, acting directors and heads of units.
