FG SAVES N2.293BN MONTHLY, REMOVES 23,846 NON-EXISTENT WORKERS FROM PAYROLL
Through the ongoing BVN-based staff audit and enrolment to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), the Federal Government has removed 23,846 non-existent workers from its payroll.Consequently, the salary bill for February 2016 has reduced by N2.293 billion when compared to December 2015 at which time the BVN audit process commenced.
CUSTOMS RELEASES NEW GUIDELINES ON DISPOSAL OF SEIZED, OVERTIME GOODS
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved a new procedure for the disposal of seized and overtime goods in its bid to address some of the perceived irregularities relating to the past procedure including fake online auctions.
Consequently the NCS confirmed that it is setting up four different committees to handle the disposal of these categories of goods. The committees include an Assessment Committee, Disposal Committee, Seizure Committee and Overtime Committee.
ICAN VISITS ADEOSUN, DECLARES SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC FINANCE REFORMS
The ongoing reforms in the nation’s public finance sector received a boost on Thursday when the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) endorsed the measures being undertaken and passed a vote of confidence in the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Finance in Abuja.
